In my view, successful marketing comes down to some very basic
things:
~ being crystal clear about who you want to attract
~ being able to use language to connect and compel
~ being consistent in message and disciplined
in efforts
~ having sustainable systems & venues
~ taking calculated psychological & financial "risks"
Can anyone think of something else? If you do, I'd love to hear from you. Meanwhile, articles on this page will help
you with these basics.
Help for Getting Crystal Clear
Counselors, naturopaths, and healing arts practitioners of all sorts can be unfocused and rambling in marketing
messages. Answering these four crucial questions prior to creating advertising materials can help wrap our minds around this

Writing a great mini-marketing pitch -- often misnamed a "profile"
-- isn't easy. View this powerpoint presentation on the best 10 things to do, and the 7 things not to do to improve how you

Help on Sustainable Systems & Venues
Advertisers have known for some 50 years what solopreneurs
need to learn -- once is never enough. One ad in one paper, or one profile on one online directory will not be enough
to fill your appointment calendar. So what works?
Many of us turn to marketing when we notice there are more empty slots in the daily
schedule than clients. If you're approaching your marketing efforts like it's a temporary solution, you'll never have
the practice success you need to stay in business.
Help on Taking Psychological
& Financial Risks
Two core fears must be overcome to succeed in being in business for yourself:
your visibility in the marketplace must be as large as your desired bottom line, and in the beginning you will
need to be able to tolerate spending more marketing dollars than you gain in client payments.
